Oliver McEwan (born February 6, 1984)[1][2][3] is a Danish bass player, musical director, and songwriter. He is the brother of Tim McEwan, the primary producer and songwriter of The Midnight.
McEwan began playing the bass at 10 years old and had his first playing gig at the age of 2014. He embarked on his first tour in 2006. In 2007, McEwan graduated from the Danish Rhythmic Conservatory with a bachelor's degree in music.
McEwan has played bass for artists such as Atomic Kitten, Kyle Minogue, Rick Astley, and several artists produced under Deekay, who his brother Tim is a member of. He has also played bass on several television shows, including Eurovision and the Danish version of The X-Factor.
McEwan's first contribution to The Midnight was performing the synth solo on Kick Drums & Red Wine from the EP Days of Thunder. He co-wrote Nighthawks from Endless Summer and played bass on Dance With Somebody and Brooklyn, both from The Midnight's album Monsters. On the band's 2022 album Heroes, McEwan played bass on the songs Heartbeat, A Place of Her Own, and Avalanche. In 2025, McEwan provided synth bass for Syndicate (Intro) in addition to co-writing and playing synths on Summer's Ending Soon, both from the album Syndicate.
On November 6, 2025, it was announced that McEwan will join The Midnight's touring band beginning with the Time Machines tour. He will serve as the music director and play bass.[4]

Cold Pizza (stylized as C O L D P I Z Z A)[1] is a song by The Midnight. It was released exclusively on YouTube on February 9, 2021.[2]
The song was written and produced by band member Tim McEwan. It has a running time of three minutes and 31 seconds and is in the key of E major.
Early in 2021, McEwan began streaming the creation of new songs on Twitch. The composition of Cold Pizza was shown over the course of a couple of weeks spanning the end of January into the beginning of February. He hinted during these streams that the song would release on February 9, a date which is commemorated in the US as National Pizza Day.[3] The song premiered on YouTube that day and was accompanied by the publication of a website for Pizza Zone, a fictitious pizza chain seen throughout the artwork of several of The Midnight's singles and albums.[4] The site included a form to enter one's name and street address, and three people in the Los Angeles area were chosen from the submitted names. The winners were delivered a pizza from Triple Beam Pizza and given a full set of The Midnight vinyl records by McEwan.[5][6][7] The Pizza Zone website also advertised merchandise for sale and included a phone number, +1 (323) 553-1712, that people could call to hear an automated voice message advertising Pizza Zone and a snippet of Cold Pizza.

Red, White and Bruised: The Midnight Live is the first live album by The Midnight. It was initially released on April 22, 2023, exclusively to independent record stores as part of Record Store Day 2023[1] before getting a widespread release on September 1, 2023.[2]
Background
On February 13, 2023, a short soundbite of Tyler Lyle from a live show was shared to the band's socials, with a cryptic date of February 16 given.[3] On that day, Red, White, and Bruised: The Midnight Live was officially announced with a small trailer and was slated for release on April 22, exclusively on vinyl through independent record stores as part of Record Store Day 2023.[4] The songs on the album were recorded throughout various shows during The Midnight's 2022 tours in North America and Europe.
1300 copies of Red, White, and Bruised: The Midnight Live were pressed across three different colors - red, white, and blue - with the color not being known until opening the record.[5][6] The album was promoted with a live acoustic performance by Lyle at Criminal Records in Atlanta, GA on the day of release.[7][8] It was hinted that the album would be made available again at some point in the future.[8][9]
On August 15, 2023, it was revealed that Red, White, and Bruised: The Midnight Live would have a full release on all platforms on September 1.[2] Heroes was released as a single from the album on the same day and was accompanied by a corresponding live music video. In addition to vinyl, the album was also available in cassette form for the first time. The digital and cassette versions contain eight new tracks in addition to the eight included on the original vinyl release.
